International Summer School 2025 - "Heteronomous Texts in (Early) Judaism"
From September 2 to 5, 2025, the 3rd International Summer School of the research training group took place. The program, organized jointly by Hannes Bezzel (GRK, Jena), George Brooke (Manchester), Admiel Kosman (Potsdam), and Peter Porzig (Göttingen), was attended by a group of doctoral researchers from the research training group as well as doctoral researchers from around the world. Through our specific research perspective of heteronomy/autonomy the participants explored underlying hermeneutics and methods by working with selected textual examples. They had a look at texts from Qumran such as the famous Pesharim, but also Reworked Pentateuch Texts and pieces from 11QPsa as well as pieces from the Mishnah (e.g. Tractate Nedarim) and the Babylonian Talmud (e.g. Ketubot; Baba Metzia). In addition, participants had the chance to present and discuss their own research projects.
